The government has listened to the voice of the industry and accordingly has modified its proposals for introduction of a new Fulfilment House Due Diligence Scheme.
Following a government consultation paper earlier this year, UKWA’s Customs & Excise Advisory Board gathered feedback from members and prepared a formal response to the proposed scheme. As a result, UKWA is pleased to report that the view from the Advisory Board has been taken on board, most significantly defining more closely what constitutes a fulfilment house for the purposes of the scheme.
The government has also decided that those delivering to and from businesses that might be operating as fulfilment houses will not be required to check the details on a register each time.
UKWA will be attending a face to face feedback session with HMRC in January and will feedback further thereafter.
